Ralph William Frazier

Ralph William Frazier was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. Our hearts are grieving with extreme sadness from his death on September 25, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital at the age of seventy-one. He fought cancer courageously and withstood the effects of chemotherapy for five months without complaint. His life was marked by his love for God, family and country. A man who learned love, strength, and devotion to God is the best foundation for a rewarding and purpose filled life. The two best examples of lives well lived were Ralph’s parents and role models James Frazier and Mildred Bailey Frazier. Ralph and his five siblings grew up on the family farm in the Rocky Valley community New Market, Tennessee. He graduated from Rush Strong High School as Valedictorian in 1968. He attended Carson Newman College before entering the U.S. Airforce and served honorably in Vietnam. Upon his return in 1972 he married his high school sweetheart Sylvia Owens Frazier and would have celebrated 49 years of marriage in November. They were blessed with a son in 1982 Justin William Frazier. Ralph graduated from Rochester Technical Institute and enjoyed a career in Computer Technology. He was preceded in death by parents James and Mildred Frazier; brother, Donald; and sister-in-law, Dale Frazier; Brother-in-law and friend, Ronald Finley; father-in-law, Fred Owens; and nephew, Scott Solomon. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Frazier of Strawberry Plains, TN; son, Justin Frazier of Atlanta, GA; mother-in-law, Mary Owens of Strawberry Plains, TN; siblings, Bonnie (Lloyd) Solomon, Sandra (Bill) Covert, Rebecca Finley, Fred (Miriam) Frazier and Kay (Gary) French; nieces, Donna Frazier, Melissa Eslinger, Kerri Finley – Neeley and Emilee Frazier; nephews, James Frazier, James Eslinger, Clancy Covert, Collen Covert, Nicholas Finley; and many beloved cousins. We want to thank people who loved Ralph; who shared lessons that impacted his decisions, and for blessing his life with your friendship. Graveside service 1:00 pm Saturday October 2, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Piney Cemetery in New Market, TN with full military honors and Pastor Mark Campbell officiating. Mr. Frazier will lie in state from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at Fielden Funeral Home in New Market.
