John Edward "Ed" Rogers

John Edward “Ed” Rogers, age 78, of Strawberry Plains, TN formerly of Braidwood, IL. passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Ed was passionate about helping others. He would choose to go without if it was helping someone else. He did volunteer work as a Scout Master in Braidwood, IL and was a Meneoka youth group leader in Wilmington, IL and was active in the Jaycee’s in several communities. Ed hosted three German exchange students. He also wanted to serve his country and chose to be in the ROTC in school and became a Cadet First Lieutenant unfortunately the military would not accept him due to pins in his elbow from a motorcycle accident. He worked in many places and several fields including working as a grain elevator builder, machine mechanic at GE, machinist and mechanic at Personal Products, carpenter, home Inspector, construction contractor. Ed enjoyed his hobbies such as hunting, fishing, bowling, climbing, hiking, camping, coin collecting, gun smithing, reading, playing cards, and wienie roasts. But most of all he loved entertaining family and friends. Ed was a dog whisperer. All his dogs were loved and well disciplined. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mary Duke Rogers, of Paris, IL; niece, Brandy Rogers of Paris, IL; brother, Mike Rogers, Conroe, TX; nephew, Jimmy Webb, Joliet, IL. Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teresa Tyler Rogers formerly of Wilmington, IL; sons, Marc Rogers of Mattoon, IL, Chris (Jessie) Rogers of New Market, TN; daughters, Jodi Walters of Gardner, IL, Mendi (Bart) Wallace of Yulee, FL, Cindi Rogers Sears of Mattoon, IL; 13 grandchildren, Felicia, Taylor, Mitchell, Tanner, Chase, Macy, Kindil, Lukas, Carson, Michael, Savannah, Delaney, and just 2 days ago, Olivia. great-grandchildren, Colton, Brooklyn, Braxton, Paisley, Sam, Nick, Ben, Maddox, Sailor; brothers, Rick (Jenny) Rogers, of New Market, TN, Danny (Andrea) Rogers of Pairs, IL; sisters, Beverly (Richard) Webb of Braidwood, IL, Janet (Bob) Hubbs of Danville, IL; brother-in-law, Charles (Lexi) Tyler of Richmond, WA; special friends, Bill and Mary Ford of Strawberry Plains, TN He also acted as fill in father to Linda, Josh, Andy, Mike, Sarah, Chris, David, and many others were coached in life by him.
