Rev. Allen "Peanut" Smith

Rev. Allen Smith, lovingly known to many as "Peanut," age 82, of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in Strawberry Plains, Allen spent his entire life in the community he cherished. A faithful servant of God, he dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel and serving others. He faithfully pastored New Hope Baptist Church in New Market, Tennessee, where he ministered with compassion, humility, and unwavering faith. He was also a devoted member of the local Baptist Association and was deeply respected by fellow pastors and church members alike. In addition to his ministry, Allen worked as a machinist at Five River Hydraulics for more than 40 years. Known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect and friendship of countless coworkers throughout his career. Above all else, Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest joy was his family, whom he loved deeply. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and unconditional love, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire generations to come. Allen was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry Smith and Octa Smith; his daughter, Donna Oliver; his son, Shannon L. Smith; and his siblings, Alfred Smith, Alma Cole, Fred Smith, Betty Runion, James Smith, Jean Morgan, and Helen Morgan. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Neta Smith; his son, Glen A. Smith; his sister, Katherine Hammer; his grandchildren, Tesla Metzger, Jon Smith, Jessie Baker, Austin Cameron, Blake Smith, Makenna Jones, Channing Smith, Colton Claiborne, Collin Lowe, and Catelyn Lowe; his nine cherished great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy; and his extended family: Sheila Smith, Summer Smith, Adam Baker, Joseph Metzger, Kymber Cameron, Amber Smith, and Harrell Oliver, along with many nieces, nephews, church family, lifelong friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Rev. Allen Smith will be remembered as a man of steadfast faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to God, his family, and his community. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and faithful example will live on in the lives of those he touched. "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:23 His family rejoices in the assurance that he has been welcomed into his eternal home and now rests in the presence of his Savior. As he concluded his final message to his church family, he left them with words that now carry an even deeper meaning: "I'll see you on the other side." Those words remain a promise of hope, rooted in the faith he lived and preached every day. Though his voice is now silent on earth, his testimony continues to speak through the countless lives he touched, the family he loved, and the Savior he faithfully served. Until that glorious reunion, his memory will be treasured, and his legacy will endure. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27th from noon until 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church in New Market with the funeral to begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Breeden officiating. Following the service a procession will be held to Shady Baptist Church in Strawberry Plains for a graveside service. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family.
