Wendell H. Longmire

December 10, 1934 - April 1, 2022

Wendell H. Longmire age 87, of New Market, TN, born on December 10, 1934, was reunited with the love of his life, Avon Longmire, on April 1, 2022.  Wendell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He was a faithful member and deacon of Pleasant Grove Piney Baptist Church. Wendell was a man that loved his Lord and his family. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was also known for his good tomatoes that he raised each year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avon Longmire; parents, Edgar and Grace Longmire; brothers, Earl and Walker Longmire; sister, Norma McElhaney. Wendell is survived by his brothers, Conard Longmire, Carl (Gladys) Longmire of Rutledge; sisters, Minnie Greenlee of Rutledge, Lois Anderson of Russellville, Ledena Roach of Talbott; sisters-in-law, Martha Jo Riddle and Ann (Milo) Bohanan; brother-in-law, James (Ruby) Riddle of New Market.  He also leaves a very special nephew Jeremy Roach; along with many other nieces, nephews and a host of friends that will miss his sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to PGPBC Cemetery Fund, 2660 Piney Road, New Market, TN 37820. Pallbearers provided by David, Cale, Donnie, Ed and Jeff Longmire, Roger Smith and honorary pallbearer David Riddle. Funeral service 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Pleasant Grove Piney Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Lee, Rev. Ricky Hardin, and Rev. Jerry Dezearn officiating. Interment 11:00 am Wednesday in Pleasant Grove Piney Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
