Robert F. Sellers, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully at Jefferson County Nursing Home on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Robert joined the U.S. Army the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed and stayed until the war was over. After the war, he came back and attended University of Tennessee at Knoxville. That is where he met the love of his life, Wilma Hill. After college, he worked at Oak Ridge for a short time then worked at Vanderbilt Hospital as a Lab Technician until he retired. Robert had a hobby of collecting spiders, which he got from several countries, that he donated to Carson New University for display. He also liked to make music, playing the mandolin with some of country music stars like Roy Acuff, Roy Clark, and Chet Atkins. Robert also loved dancing with his wife, joining many dancing contest and winning several prizes. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilma Hill Sellers; parents, Jess and Maddy Sellers; brothers, Paul and Doan Sellers; and sister, Ruth Sellers Vance. He is survived by his nephews, Dr. David Rutledge of Maryville, Jesse Vance of Talbott and J.D. Sellers of Piedmont; and niece, Ernestine Vance of New Market. Graveside service 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by VFW Post # 5266. Friends may call at their convenience.
