Ethel E. Davis, 85, of New Market, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Tennova Turkey Creek after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was a loyal servant to the community for 42 years at Jefferson Memorial Hospital as a licensed nurse. Ethel was a life-time member of Young’s Memorial AME Zion Church, where she served as President of the Deaconess Board and as a member of the Missionary Society. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur (Gene) Davis, Sr.; parents, Carl and Roberta Pate; brothers, Elbert, Tom and Ed (her twin) Pate; sister, Barbara Dailey. She is survived by her children, Diana (Rev. Dr. M. Luther) Hill, Arthur “Junebug” E. Davis, Jr., Steve (Cynthia) Davis, Pamela Williams, Tony (Kristen) Davis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise “Maggie” Brazelton, Hattie Cotner, Margaret (Eddie) Langston, Dorothy Rice; brothers, Hugh Pate; her Tennessee daughter, Pat Kyle; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service 7:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2018 at Young’s Memorial AME Zion Church with Rev. Bernice Osborne officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Saturday in Young’s Memorial Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 - 7:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
