Wilma Hoskins Deaderick

Wilma Hoskins Deaderick was born January 18, 1928, and passed away November 2, 2024, at the glorious age of 96. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bill Deaderick, also her parents Hugh and Elsie Hoskins, and half-sister, Jean Hoskins. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Albert Blackburn, and her favorite granddaughter, Abigail Blackburn. Other survivors include her sister Huette Hoskins Roberson of Lebanon, and her family. Wilma was born in the “Big Apple” of Morgan County outside of Oliver Springs. A few years later, the family moved to Dutch Valley to begin a dairy farm. She met Bill when she was delivering milk to the Deaderick family. He had just returned from WWII, and they both scared the dickens out of each when she walked into the kitchen! After six years of courting, Wilma gave Bill an ultimatum to propose or else; they later married in 1954. He soon became like a son to Hugh and Elsie, and started to help them out on the farm. Wilma had taken business courses and worked in several banks, and as office manager for Georgia Pacific. After leaving the dairy business (she didn’t really like cows), they moved to several different towns due to Bill’s mechanical prowess. In retirement they did extensive traveling across the United States, where Wilma picked up a rock at every stop. They finally settled down in Jefferson City to be near their family. Bill and Wilma attended Mill Springs Baptist Church and Hebron Presbyterian Church. A very special thank you to the Blackburn family who adopted them and included them in many family dinners and holiday events. Special thanks to Sharon Courtney, Samantha, and nursing staff at Charter Assisted living, also Smokey Mountain Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jefferson Park Nursing Home, 914 Industrial Park Road, Dandridge, TN, 37725. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Fielden Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Brown and Rev. Greg Lindsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm prior to the service. At the conclusion of the service, a procession will be held to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 pm graveside service.
