Rita Ann Swatsler

Rita Ann Swatsler passed into Heaven on February 1, 2024. Rita grew up in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. She attended Underwood Elementary School and was part of the 1972 graduating class of Maury High School in Dandridge, Tennessee. Rita was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her job as a home health nurse and spent many years offering support to countless families as her caring spirit brought comfort to others. She loved giving gifts, cooking for others and throwing parties for family members. She enjoyed feeding wildlife, especially hummingbirds and deer. She had a knack for displaying God’s love by sharing beautiful Godly thoughts, sayings, pictures, and prayers with others. Rita’s true happiness began when she married the love of her life, Todd Swatsler, on October 31, 2009. They supported each other in every way. They enjoyed traveling, cruising, and countless, unforgettable adventures together. Their home is filled with memories and keepsakes of their travels and special moments. Rita proudly displayed them and loved to share all the stories about them. She was like a kid filled with wonder when Christmas rolled around. She made sure everyone got a gift she personally picked out for them. It brought her joy to lavishly decorate their home, inside and out. Rita was preceded in death by parents, Cebern and Gladys Matthews; Sister-in-law, Debbie Beckham Matthews; Brother-in-law, Thomas Mosser; Along with many patients she loved like family during her service as a hospice nurse. She leaves behind her loving husband, Todd Swatsler; Brother, Robert Allen Matthews; Sisters, Barbara Gail (Ralph) Roderick and Connie (Ben) Yoder; In-laws, Terry and Donna Swatsler, Terry Swatsler, Jr. and Tammy Swatsler; Special cousins-in-law, Kelley (Mark) Calk and Bobby Jacoby; Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were blessed by her kindness and love. Visitation is 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Saturday February 10, 2024 at Fielden’s Funeral Home in New Market, Tennessee. Graveside service to immediately follow at Fain Cemetery at 2:00 pm where Rita’s friend, Gloria Spears, will offer words and prayers along with Tom Rayford, Chaplin at Covenant Health. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Swatsler family.
