Rebecca Graves Welker

Rebecca Sue (Graves) Welker, age 56 of New Market, TN. On Sunday, September 17, 2023, Becky slipped quietly from this mortal world as she continued on her eternal journey. Becky was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a true die hard Tennessee Vols fan, always for any football team that played against Florida and Alabama. She previously worked at the University of Massachusetts Hospital as the transit supervisor. Becky was also known as a Homemaker and mom to all who came under her loving wings. Preceded in death by her parents, Earl Gordon Graves, Sr. and Alina June Sims sister, Barbara Marie Leimbacher Plumbley; brother, Earl Gordon Graves, Jr. and her grandparents, Irvin and Caroline Sims and Irvin and Lillian Graves. She will be greatly missed by her husband Thomas Welker; son, Chase Singleton; daughter, Shelby Lynn (Jimmy) McBee; bonus daughters, Jessica (Alan) Taber, Tam Welker, Laura (Catie) Welker-Shore, and Katie Tilley; and bonus sons, Robert Welker, Spencer (Felicity) Welker, and Michael (Kara) Welker; brother Eric Graves; sister, Phyl (Mike) Moffat; aunt, Becky Graves; several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She touched many lives and left a legacy of love and service in her wake. Her exuberant, boisterous personality allowed her to make friends anywhere her feet took her. No matter where Becky lived, she was able to set down roots and make lifelong friendships. Her dedication to her faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and her commitment to her church community and her family was cherished by everyone who had the fortune to meet her. If she found out someone in the church or the family needed something, she made sure they got it. She was always quick to offer help, and never asked for anything in return. And if she helped you in any way, you were now part of the family. From being a mom for Missionaries who were far from home to helping the children in Primary in her local church Ward, Becky was known for her kind, compassionate soul wrapped up in a big Southern personality. She loved being around people, hosting a game of Runs and Bunches, participating in one church project or another. But above all else, she loved her kids with every bit of her being. Unfortunately, the brightest stars often burn twice as fast, and she was called home too soon. She did not go without a fight. Over the last couple years, she had suffered from various ailments and was in and out of the hospital. Even with complications from diabetes, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and most recently congestive heart failure, she refused to be held down and continued to prove her commitment to her church and her family. But in the end, God needed one of his best angels to return and continue the work in Heaven. The Celebration of Life service will be held 8:00 pm on Monday, October 2, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6301 Hiawatha Road, Morristown, TN 37814. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until time of the service. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 am at Fielden Funeral Home in New Market for a procession to Valley View Cemetery for a 10:00 am graveside service. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Welker family. We love you Becky. When we see the sun’s orange cast on the evening sky, we’ll know it’s you smiling down on us. God be with you till we meet again and GO VOLS!!
