Judy Ann Turley

Judy Ann Turley, age 72, of Rutledge, Tennessee; went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Judy was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to parents Henry and Stella Peavler. Judy was a loving, caring, and hard-working woman. She could do anything she put her mind to. She was the epitome of a great woman who handled any obstacle given her throughout life with grace and dignity including her battle with this horrible cancer. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Judy loved life and enjoyed spending time and camping with her family. We are truly heartbroken. Before she retired, Judy was an underground miner at Asarco Zinc Mines (now Nyrstar) in Mascot, Tn. She has had many mining friends and a large loving family. Judy married the love of her life, Ellis Turley who also was a miner at Nyrstar. She enjoyed many years mining and many years of farm life. She had in the past frequently worked in the tobacco fields and helped to bale and haul hay and raise cattle. Judy was the strongest woman we have ever known. She enjoyed horses and riding until the passing of her favorite horse, “Berry”. She had a full life with a huge love for animals which included her horses, cows, dogs, cat, bird, and sugar gliders and many other animals she nursed back to health over the years. There was an enormous amount of life lived in the dash between her birth date and death date. No obituary that we could ever write could give it justice. Those who knew her were truly blessed. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry F Peavler; mother, Stella Kate Haggard Peavler; sister, Pat Peavler Roberts; paternal grandmother, Neelie Jones Peavler; paternal grandfather, Robert Taylor Peavler; maternal grandmother, Minnie Ellen Haggard King; maternal grandfather, Albert Roosevelt Haggard; and maternal step-grandfather, Manual Harrison King. She is survived by her children, Julie (Boone) Pratt of Knoxville, Billy (Kay) Houser of Rutledge, and Kimberly (Larry) Pratt of Rutledge; step-sons that she made her own, Pete (Heather) Turley of Prosper, Texas and Michael Turley of Rutledge; grandchildren, Rebekah Pratt, Emma Cope, Eli Houser, Kayla Tate, Eric Norton, Rachael McDaniel, Michael Turley II, Hannah Turley, Madison Turley, Gracie Turley, Ellis Turley III, Raylan Turley; great-grandchildren, Camryn Tate, Keaton Tate, Ayla Tate, Kiri Norton, Aleena Norton, Landyn McDaniel, Kaitlyn McDaniel; sisters, Janie Yount and Linda Clark, both of Knoxville. A special thank you to all that assisted, Rachael, Julie, Kim and Kayla during our time of need. To Michael for helping keep check on Ellis. Special thanks to the Turley sisters, Maryann, Florene, and Carolyn; the prepared meals were heartfelt, and we know you all loved her as much as we all did. Thank you to Dr. David Wilson, U.T. Hospitalist who checked in on Judy even when your job was done. A special thank you to Rachael McDaniel for your love and caring when we needed it most. Thank you to Matthew and Shelley Leonard for your love and support and to the entire Pratt’s Chapel family of friends.
