Jo Iris (Norris) Griffin

Jo Iris (Norris) Griffin, 92, one of the strongest women to walk on earth was welcomed into heaven on September 3, 2024, by Jesus and her one and only love, Kenneth. She was also greeted by her parents, Tom and Lucille; sister, Jean; three children, Linda Gail, Tommy and Jerry; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and in laws who passed through heaven’s gates before her. Jo was a strong and selfless person who cared for several of her family members during their time of need, even caring for and taking in three of her grandchildren to raise. She worked as a seamstress for Levi’s on Cherry Street for 36 years. Jo loved to sew and quilt and had made quilts for each of her grandchildren. She loved flowers, African violets, and irises being her favorite. She was a member of Pleasant Grove “Piney” Church in New Market, TN, and lived 89 years of her life on Hickory Rd in Strawberry Plains. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughter and caregiver, Kelly (Wayne) Landrum; daughter-in-law, Voilet Griffin; grandchildren, Todd (Tina) Griffin, Tammy Griffin, Crystal (David) Rogers, Nick (Jill) Singleton,; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren with number 6 on the way; special niece and nephew, Vicki Jo and Donnie Davis; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Debbie and Doug Vandergriff, Karen Hoffner, and Pam Landrum. The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice, especially Rose Johnson, for their wonderful end-of-life care and her primary care physician, Dr. Melissa Cooley and staff. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fielden Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jerry DeZearn officiating. Jo will be laid to rest beside her husband at Blue Springs Church of God Cemetery at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 7, 2024.
