Betty Margaret Repass

Betty Shipley Repass, age 84, of New Market, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home, where she had lived for the past 4 years. She had battled RA for 42 years and congestive heart failure more recently. She loved her family and friends. She was a devoted wife to her one true love P.V., who passed away in 2010 after 64 years of marriage. She was a precious christian mother to her daughters; a loving and giving grandmother to her 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; and the best Nanny ever to her 6 great-grandsons. She was a member of New Market Baptist Church for many years. Known for her love of God and her Bible, she read it daily and prayer was high on her list of priorities. After many years at the New Market Post Office, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a life-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Holston Chapter #384 and spent many years as a “ Pink Lady” volunteer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Over the years, she enjoyed many lunch dates with her “School Girls”, a group of friends that she had known since childhood. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Vernon Repass; parents, Effie “Long” and Joe Shipley, brothers, Eddie, J.R. and Walter Shipley; sister, Mary Ellen Williams, parents by love, Arminda and Paul H. Repass; sister-in-law, Jean Repass Cochran; and son-in-law, Jim Whittaker. She will be missed by her daughters, Judy (Steve) Jenkins of Oak Ridge and Nancy Whittaker of New Market; granddaughter, Kristin (Jason) Shubert; grandsons, Josh (Meghan) Jenkins, Nick (Gloria) Larrance, and Andy Larrance; great-grandsons, J.J. and Isaiah Shurbert, Beau, Nate, Drew, and Tucker Larrance; sister-in-law, Betty Shipley; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Covenant Hospice Staff for the special care they have lovingly shown; especially Tabitha Davis, a devoted nurse, and Dr. Carter for their many years of care. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations my be made to the Alzheimers Association of East TN, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Funeral service 7:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2016 at New Market Baptist Church with Brother Ronnie Zills officiating. Interment 11:00 am Friday in Jefferson Memorial Garden with Dr. J.W. Taylor officating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Fielden Funeral Home in New Market.
